Terms of Use
By using Quilt Backing Calculator you accept these terms. They are short and written to be read.
The service
Quilt Backing Calculator provides free online calculators for quilting fabric arithmetic, starting with the backing calculator on the homepage. The tools are provided as-is, for personal and commercial craft use alike — if you run a quilting business, you are welcome to plan with them. No account or payment is required, and features may change as the site improves.
Estimates, not guarantees
Every result on this site is a planning estimate computed from a documented method. Fabric behavior varies — widths differ between bolts, quilts measure differently after quilting, and individual cutting and sewing allowances are personal. Measure your actual quilt top and your actual fabric, and treat close calls with the respect they deserve: when a result lands near a panel or package boundary, buy the extra quarter yard.
We work hard to keep the arithmetic right — sources, worked examples and the correction process are described in the editorial policy — but we cannot accept liability for projects affected by a miscalculation, a mis-measurement, or a fabric that refused to read the pattern. The final authority at any cutting table is a tape measure.
Acceptable use
Use the calculators as much as you like. Do not attempt to disrupt the site's operation, misrepresent its results as your own product, or use automated means to harvest the site in bulk. Linking to any page, with whatever anchor text describes it honestly, is welcome and needs no permission.
External references
The site names published quilting methods and their authors (for example John Flynn's diagonal backing method and Missouri Star's binding method) to credit its sources. Those names belong to their owners; naming them is attribution, not affiliation, and implies no endorsement in either direction.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the site evolves. The current version always lives at this address and applies from the moment it is published. Questions about the terms are welcome via the contact page.
